What to Keep in Your Car for Winter

As winter begins you should make sure that you never leave home in your vehicle without ensuring that you are fully prepared.

Before you leave make sure that you check the weather forecast and if it looks bad then stay at home unless it is really important that you make that journey.

Not only should you ensure that the car is mechanically prepared for winter, but also you need to have a winter weather kit in your trunk. Firstly you will need a shovel, in case you ever get stuck in the snow, and make sure you have water and snacks in case you are snowed in, in your car, and a thermos of hot soup. Should you be travelling with a pet, have a little bowl for them so that they can eat and drink as well.

Whilst you are stocking the trunk, take the time to check on the spare tire and the jack, and make sure that the first aid kit is properly stocked. You should have a blanket and a flashlight with spare batteries and think about having jumper cables as many batteries run down when people leave their heat running when stuck in the snow.

Finally,  you need a windshield scraper and the all important cell phone. Making sure you are prepared will make it much easier if ever you are stranded because of winter weather.
