On Friday, two elderly tourists from Georgia were killed in a hit and run accident near the Rio All-Suites Hotel-Casino in Las Vegas.
The couple was later identified as Charlotte Westbrook, 74, and her husband, 71-year-old Terry Westbrook, both from Kennesaw, Georgia.
According to Las Vegas Metro police, just after 10 p.m., they were crossing the road, Valley View Boulevard, albeit not in a marked crosswalk, when a dark colored Nissan sedan which was travelling southbound on the Boulevard struck the couple. The vehicle which is thought to be a black 2000 – 2003 Nissan Sedan, fled the scene without stopping.
The crash continues to be under investigation and police are still looking for the driver of the Nissan.
This is Metro’s 48th and 49th traffic-related fatality this year.
