A teenager is in critical condition after crashing into a light pole in the east valley early Wednesday morning.
According to Metro Police, the accident happened just after 1 a.m. on Sahara Avenue near South Sloan Lane. The 17 year old boy was driving a 2001 two door Mitsubishi Eclipse eastbound on Sahara at a high rate of speed when he lost control of the vehicle, began to spin and struck a light pole in the center median. He was transported to University Medical Center in critical condition. The accident is currently under investigation.
Sahara was closed in both directions between Sloan and Nellis Boulevard earlier this morning while the scene was cleared and an investigation took place. It reopened for traffic just after 7 a.m.
Guadalupe Rodriguez aged 17, was killed in an accident in the same area on November 16 when she was a passenger in a car that crashed into a light pole.
